I Got a Comment!

Not a lot of people know me in the blogger world. Well, lets face it - Aunt Weezie knows me in the blogger world. So how excited was I to see that I finally got a comment from someone! Anxiously I looked to see who it was from and found this:

Oi, achei seu blog pelo google está bem interessante gostei desse post. Gostaria de falar sobre o CresceNet. What the heck is that?!

So I'm headed to Florida on Friday with Aunt Weezie and the fam. We'll be there from 10/19-10/27 and I've been so excited to go!!! The only setback I have right now is that my grandfather is having a risky procedure the day before I go. Hopefully he pulls through it - I've never lost a close family member before! Please pray for Grandpa - he is still young and has many many many more years to be around!

Fabulous Friday

Have I ever mentioned I *love* fall weather? It is just beautiful outside today! The hospital put on a BBQ for their employees today and it couldn't be a better day for the occasion.

I worked a lot this week. I had my normal Monday and Wednesday at the store, but was called in Tuesday because the closing shift leader was sick. It was kind of rough at the time, but I'll be happy when the paycheck comes :)

Thursday was the season premier for Survivor - they're in China this time. I honestly feel Survivor is running out of time...I've heard a lot of people complain about it being the same thing every time and because of that they don't watch it any more. I kind of agree, but still find myself glued to the TV every Thursday at 8. The new Grey's Anatomy is on next Thursday and I am just DYING to see it! I picked up season 3 last night on DVD so I can make sure I didn't miss any episodes and that I am all caught up on what's going on in everybody's world.

Tomorrow I work at the barn, then work at the office til noon, then working at Hannaford 4:30-10. My housework is really starting to suffer with all of this work stuff interfering with my spare time! I guess there's always Sunday...

I broke up with Matty this week. It was kind of a 'mercy' dumping. I really feel he deserves someone that will be more active in his son's life. I enjoyed the fun stuff, but when it came to changing diapers and excessive fussiness I'd remind Matty that it's HIS kid to take care of. The driving back and forth also was getting old. I do NOT want to be driving to CT every month to pick up and drop this kid off with Baby Mama (that's ebonics for mother of the child). Last time we left Saturday at 8PM, met up with Baby Mama at 2:30AM, sat around and waited while he and she chatted and played with their kid, had to stop around 7AM because we witnessed a car accident and finally got home around 9AM. Well, there went my Sunday because I needed to use the day to catch up on sleep! I think that last drive is what put me over the edge. The more I think about it, the more I realized that this was not the life that I want to live - it certainly wasn't something I dreamed of growing up. Can you imagine a ten year-old saying "I want to grow up and marry someone who accidentally knocked some girl up and now lives ten hours away!" I'll tell you one thing - if I ever heard a kid say that I'd smack 'em right side the head!

Fall Weather

One of my favorite parts of Maine is the season changes. The transition from fall to winter is my least favorite, of course, but nothing's perfect, right? The fall weather has been amazing here - cool crisp air, changing leaves...just amazing. I'll admit it gets a bit chilly in the mornings - hit the 30s today - but once the sun comes out it gets up to the 60s and is perfect with a sweater or long-sleeved shirt.

This weekend wasn't super-exciting. I had plans Friday night with a friend who was a no call/no show, so I sat on my bed surfing the net and watching Grey's Anatomy reruns. Saturday a.m. I went to Aunt Weezie's barn to do stalls, then we went to the barn where MY horse is and cleaned there. We usually only do the stalls of our own horses becuase at one point there were 19 stalls to be done, but now that they are down to 6 we were feeling generous and cleaned everybody out and gave fresh shavings. Then we all tacked up and went for a little ride. I didn't feel like putting a saddle on so I hopped on bareback. Man am I feeling that today! I guess my muscles need a little more work!

Sunday I went to church then lunch at The Muddy Rudder with Aunt Weezie, Uncle R and Grandpa W. We got to talking about the Al Brady shootout and Grandpa proceeds to tell me that he was downtown the day it happened! Al Brady was a famous mobster from the 30's and was busted in Maine when he tried to order some automatic weapons. When he and his gang went to pick up the weapons, the police and the FBI were waiting for him and shot him on the spot. Grandpa missed all the action, but when he was dismissed for lunch he saw everything all shot up and the streets were still wet from being washed down. It's a pretty significant piece of Bangor history, considering not a lot happens around here. Next month they're going to have a reinactment of that historic day. I got me a red flapper dress for the occasion - should be a good time!

Not much else going on in Fun Size's world this week besides work and more work. Next week we get Lil D again so that should be fun. I think we are going to take him to Treworgy's which is an apple orchard that also has pumpkins/gourds and a petting zoo - not to mention yummy homemade ice cream! Man, sometimes it seems like I have a one-track mind: FOOD!

TGIF

It has been an interesting week, to say the least. Things have been up and down here at the office which certainly doesn't make it easy. I try to go in with a positive attitude but now that I've realize how much I've been responsible for and that it all will be taken away starting 09/24, it leaves me a bit disgruntled.

On a happier note, my allergies are almost completely under control. My dizziness only bothers me a little bit every day, and is still improving. I have to go back for additional testing in a couple weeks which I certinaly am not looking forward to, but at that time she might be making up a serum so I can start weekly allergy shots. I've never been so excited to get a shot in my life!!!

Not much going on this weekend. Tomorrow I work for Aunt Weezie then go to the barn to see MY horse. Seems like I spent more time this summer with her horses instead of mine because I was there every morning mucking up a storm! I miss going there every day, but the extra sleep sure has helped!

Well I am going to get back to work. I'm going out to dinner with my friend Jenn whom I haven't seen in like a month - it's always fun to play catch-up!

"Stuck Up"

So there's an end in sight to all of this allergies mess - I hope. This morning I went in for my testing, which was no picnic by the way, and learned that I am pretty much allergic to nature itself...super!

Have any of you ever had allergy testing? It's mainly a series of needle sticks that inject specific allergens under your skin - if you get red and puffy over certain areas, it determines what you are actually allergic to. 17 needle sticks later I find out I'm allergic to the following in this order:

1) Ragweed
2) Mold
3) Dust
4) Pollen
5) Grass
6) Cats

No wonder I'm miserable! She said it was too late in the season to start allergy injections because it takes about 3 months to build up an immunity.

Well I hate to cut this one short but I have run out of time - I had to bring clothes to change into so I can hop from job to job!

The War Continues

It has been over a month since my allergies started to bother me, but I think I might be getting down to the bottom of this. Matty made the brilliant observation that my allergies seem to be worse when I wake up, and as soon as I leave the house I start to clear up. Thinking back I realized it had been a while since I got new pillows, and I have a lot of hand-me-down bedding. So instead of buying groceries this week, I went out and got new pillows, a new egg crate thingy and took out everything that was down including my beloved comforter. We'll see how tomorrow turns out! I sure will miss my down :(

Well Matty just showed up with Domino's pizza so I guess I should be giving him my undivided attention!

Down for the Count

Rotten. Rotten rotten rotten. That's the first word that comes to my mind when people ask how I'm doing. Besides still suffering from the sting of rejection, I also have been trudging along with a sinus infection, conjunctivitis, chronic allergies, and of course the vertigo. We are short-handed here in the office so I have been forcing myself to work every day. Friday I was over an hour late because I could barely lift my head to look at the time. To add insult to injury, I am currently without a doctor - their office closed last week and I don't get in with my new doctor until October. The provider schedule here is jam packed so I can't even be squeezed in here. Poor Aunt Weezie has to suffer the most because I have not been able to work for her for several days. I'm already having horse withdrawals!

Well now I'm being called to the front. I can't wait to train the new Coordinator how to do my job - should be quite interesting.

Screwed by the Boss Blues

Life's been busy. Working 3 jobs tends to do that to people I guess. For the most part I really don't mind it. On days like today, I'd rather just stay in bed.

I recently applied for a promotion at the office. With 4 years experience under my belt I honestly felt I was a shoe-in for the position. I have seen 17 people come and go, I've watched the office grow from 1 provider to 6 and I have acquired many skills along the way such as fairness, compassion and leadership. After yesterday, all of those skills have come to a screeching halt.

Instead of getting the position that I hoped for - the position I prayed about every night - was offered to someone that has never even worked in this office. My boss felt this person would be more qualified for the position. This girl is the new "go-to" person when there are questions and issues. Now I wonder - who is she gonna go to when she doesn't know the answer to the questions. You'd better believe it's not going to be me. Me? I'm just a coder. I'm here to code. The person that would bend over backwards to help you out, the person that came in early and stayed late, the person that fell behind on her work to help you catch up, the person that came in on her day off, no longer exists. She was thrown under the bus by her own boss and has died. Welcome to the new me - better grab some tissues and anxiety meds because this ain't gonna be pretty.

Did I mention the new girl is friends with my boss? Um yeah.

Where Does the Time Go?

Wow, I didn't realize how long it had been since my last blog. Not that I have many fans, but I still like to keep up with this so I can look back on it someday and maybe share it with my (future) kids, if I ever decide to have them.

Probably one of the reasons I haven't posted much is because not a lot has been going on. I work, work and work - when I'm not working I'm either recovering from work or cleaning my apartment. Cleaning has kind of gone to the back-burner and it's getting to the point that I want to rent a bulldozer to push all the crap to the corner to make more room for me to walk around. Having a tiny place doesn't help much at all!

Saturday I worked at the barn first thing, the office until 1, then Hannaford from 4:45-10. Matty sent me a beautiful bouquet of flowers to the office today. Last week wasn't a good one for us - it seemed like we argued about anything and everything. He always was good about sending me flowers - and he always finds a way to sneak a few of my favorites (Stargazer Lillies) in there!

Between jobs I caught a couple episodes of Grey's Anatomy - Aunt Weezie lent me Season 1 and 2 and I was working on #2. After work I went to bed. How exciting.

Sunday I had breakfast with mom, church with Aunt Weezie, then groceries with mom. After I got home I did some cleaning downstairs - the stupid little things that I put off, like recycling, taking stuff down to the basement I don't need until winter, and cleaning out my fridge. Cleaning that fridge sure can be a smelly job! It seems like I never have room in there, but then I actually take the time to look at what's in those tupperware containers and food has pretty much grown teeth and hair! It should be good for a month or so now...

We head back down to see Lil D this week - Thursday morning we hope to head out no later than 7am. We'll be down there until Sunday. We're staying at a Sheratin this time, which'll be nice...his sister's boyfriend has some kind of connection and hooked us up. We also rented a Dodge Magnum to assure there won't be anything breaking down this time - and if it does, we have someone to take care of us!

Catching Up

It's been a few days since I've posted so I figured I'd get on here and do some typing.

Last weekend was a typical Fun Size weekend. Friday was Joy's birthday so I hung out with her and a group of people at Paddy Murphy's which is a new Irish bar downtown. Then I went home, flipped through a magazine and went to bed early.

Saturday I went to the barn - I was roasting in my long-sleeved shirt! I'm one of those "chronically cold" people, so it was encouraging when I was even hot! Buddy had been acting kind of weird so Aunt Weezie ended up not riding - he almost fell over a couple times and figured he was having some kind of reaction. After the barn I showered, did some stuff around the house, picked brother up for a graduation party for my cousin, then worked 4-9:30.

Sunday I missed out on breakfast at mom's because they were camping in Bar Harbor. I still went over to her house and waited for Aunt Weezie to pick me up for church. This week they honored the graduates and handed out Bibles like they do every year. It seems like so long ago that I was one of those nervous teens standing up there!
After church we had our usual lunch at the Rudder - we had a whole crew go this time! It took a while to get our food though because there were crowds of graduates and their families. The seafood medley I ordered was worth the wait though!

This week has been pretty crazy at the office - we 'lent' one of our secretaries out to another practice that is extremely short-staffed. Those left at our office have felt the impact and have lots of work to do. I certainly don't mind the overtime though!

Last night we celebrated Mel's birthday at Flossie's (her mom) house. There were lots of people there so Matty and I got to mingle with different crowds every few minutes. We were a little too late for the food, so we posed for some pictures and ordered pizza (at my request). I'm a pretty healthy eater most of the time, but when it comes to pizza I become this complete maniac that eats like my stomach is a bottomless pit! 6 slices (and a few bites of Matty's) later I was ready for a food-induced coma. Man, don't I love pizza :)

Swamped

What a busy week it's been! I'm still trying to catch up after our ordeal coming home from Pennsylvania last week. It's making the days go by really fast though, so I guess I shouldn't complain.

Monday I started working for Aunt Weezie. 5:30AM comes awful soon! I picked up some cute overalls for $4 at Old Navy this spring and that is my 'uniform' when I go. Since I only do laundry once a week it's not possible for me to use a fresh set of clothes every morning for the 30 minutes that I'm there. After I get used to it I think getting up early will be nice. It's so quiet and relaxing at 6am. It sure makes for a long day when I don't stop working until 10PM though. It'll be worth making the extra $$$ though - I love stashing money away in the bank!

Last night I worked a ten-hour day and got lots done. One minute I looked at the clock and it was 4, then when I looked again it was 6! After work Joy stopped by and we went for a walk - it cooled off so fast! Everyone was raving about the weather at lunch time, but by the time I got out it was a little chilly. Halfway through our walk Matty texted me and said he and Ben were hungry - they were working in Brewer for a lady who wants a porch built. I picked up Pat's Pizza and we met at a little turn-around in Brewer where there are picnic tables right by the river. After that we stopped into Hannaford to rent a movie out of the Red Box - Deja vu (or however you spell it). It was an awesome movie! It was a little longer than I hoped but I loved every minute of it. Denzel Washington is the man!!!

Tonight I work at Hannaford then I'm going straight to bed!

Back to Reality

I have never been so excited to be back to work in my entire life! I haven't even had the time to check MySpace, let alone blog! This is the first chunk of time I've had available to finish documenting the events in Pennsylvania...what a ride!

We went to the park for a while Tuesday night - Lil D was allllll smiles.
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

I went to the top of the slide and Matty was at the bottom. I'd grab Lil D's arms and let him dangle in suspense before letting him go. He loved it!
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

The park had trails out back. I thought the bumpy ride would be uncomfortable but Lil D screamed with joy!

The time we spent with Lil D was amazing. I never thought the thing that initially destroyed me and Matty's relationship ended up making us stronger as a couple. I have a great deal of respect and admiration for Matty - and seeing him play 'dad' is actually quite attractive!

My main man and his Mini Me:

He loves to put food in his mouth, get it all nice and soggy then offer it to you. Yummy!

Tuesday morning we packed up and checked out of the hotel. Matty's sister let us use her car and he ended up spotting a bad tire that needed to be replaced, so we had to take care of that before getting back on the road. After a nice breakfast at the Craker Barrel we met up with Lil D's mom and sadly gave him back :( Matty took it better than I thought - he got a little misty-eyed the night before at the thought of leaving him in PA as we headed back to Maine. He's such a big softie!!!

Can you blame him?
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

After getting the tire replaced we headed to Hershey. We were both ready to go home, but Matty knew I wanted to pick up some chocolate for my peepz so we swung in there and grabbed a burger at the Red Robin. 6PM came around and we were on our way home.

It actually was quite a nice drive - much easier with daylight. The sunset was really nice and the breeze was awesome, so we drove a lot of the way with the windows open. We got some funny looks as people drove by and saw us singing along to the country music we had blaring. We have so much fun together :)

I slept a couple hours on the way home, on and off. I'd wake up every once in a while and check to see if Matty had started to nod off yet. He prefers to do the driving though, and did an awesome job both ways! Around 1AM we were in Mass and about an hour from Maine when the car died - in Lawrence. Crap. Matty said the gas pedal just gave out and wouldn't take any more. We coasted to the side of the road, popped the trunk and checked it out. Luckily Matty knows quite a bit about cars - he's one of the best people to be stranded with! Unfortunately we were not able to figure out what was wrong. He called his sister to see what the problem was LAST time it died, but she couldn't remember. She also said that unless we knew Spanish we probably couldn't get much help in Lawrence - the city is 95% Spanish. SUPER!!!He called his mom, his dad, my step-dad...no luck. No quick fixes, no AAA. Around 2:30AM I got in the car and Matty started to push. When the car started to go to fast for him he ran and jumped in. We coasted all the way to a Dunkin Donuts and landed in a parking spot. We locked the doors and curled up, waiting for his mom who was on her way to pick us up. She lived about an hour away from where we were fortunately, so we caught some overdue Z's in the meantime.

Around 4AM I was startled awake by a knock at the window - his mom. Relieved, we loaded up our pillows and my laptop into her car and we snoozed back to her house. We plopped on a mattress down in her basement after arriving around 5AM and slept until 9 - we still had a car to get! We took turns calling in to work and thankfully our bosses were ok with it - not that we had a choice, but it's always nice when people are cool about that kind of stuff, know what I mean?

We headed to Uhaul for a car dolley, and they didn't have the right one - nor did we have the correct trailer hitch. We headed to Wal Mart, then to the Portland Uhaul because they had the dolley we needed. Back to Lawrence we go. By the time we got to the car it was pretty hot outside and I was not happy to find that the $50 in chocolate that I had purchased was well on its way to melting. Could anything else go wrong? We loaded up the car and headed back to Maine where we had a connection that would look at sister's car to see what was wrong. Unfortunately he couldn't figure it out and we had to leave the car there. Not our problem any more, that's for sure! We swung back through Uhaul to drop off the dolley and was homeward bound.

Mr. Fix-It:

I slept on and off for the last few hours and got home Wednesday at 7pm. I loaded my stuff in my car and hugged Matty goodbye, choking back tears. It was such a good weekend, I didn't want it to end. Even the obstacles we ran into were fun - we never lost our cool, fought or anything! I went home and was out cold by 8:30.

Yesterday and today have been very busy days at the office. Luckily my boss was able to find someone to cover some of my work while I was out, so it saved me a significant amount of stress. I do have to go in tomorrow and do some more work though - at least it'll only be for a few hours. I have to work at the store tomorrow night too, so I guess I don't have much for fun stuff going on.

I saw Counselor yesterday and she said shaking up my routine is good for me every once in a while. For one, it helps me to appreciate my routine once I get back into it, and also it reminds me that I really can have fun when things are turned upside down. Now I have awesome memories and adventures that I can tell Lil D about when he's older! I can't wait to see that precious little boy again :)

Oh, and someday I'll open my own Cracker Barrel so I don't have to travel out of state to enjoy their food!

Nappy Time

Hmmm...I couldn't help but think of Imus after I titled today's blog...

It's Monday and David is having his morning nap. I think Matty's about to take a little snooze too. We just went to the restaurant that is connected to the hotel. The waitress was brand new and obviously was less than thrilled to be there. She got pretty bent out of shape when I asked her what 'scrapple' was and made her go ask the cook when she didn't know the answer. "Uhh it's like sausage, only made of pork. And it's square" was her response. Since when is sausage NOT made of pork? I decided not to order that...

Here's a picture of Lil D playing with the safe that is in our room. He has tons of toys to play with but likes the sound the buttons make when he pushes them.

He loves to pose for the camera:

Yesterday we went to Zoo America, part of Hershey Park. Matty and I have been there before, but zoos are always fun and we figured Lil D would have a good time. The weather was awesome - it was nice and hot, but no super-muggy, and there was a nice breeze too. The sky doesn't get very blue down here though - definitely nothing like Maine. One of the best parts of the zoo was when a zoo keeper came up to the bear tank and threw a watermelon over the fence. The biggest one swam over to get it and started munching on it right in front of us!

I'm not sure what we're going to do today. I'd like to go back to Hershey and get some chocolate souveneirs for my co-workers. They were nice enough to let me have tomorrow off so that I could come down here with Matty. I'll also get something for my mom as she has offered some great moral support through this weekend. This surely has opened my eyes about how much your life changes when kids start coming. To be honest, I don't know if it's for me. I'm not saying I'll break it off with Matty or anything, but right now the thought of me doing this all day every day makes me want to run in the other direction. I'm sure that'll change in a couple years. As of right now though, I'm looking forward to getting back to reality!!!

Change in Plans

Wow, no blog since Monday - I must've been busy this week! We have been short-handed at the office so I've had to wear many hats these past few days. One day I didn't even get a lunch break! Wednesday it was just the boss and I running the show which meant Thursday and Friday was catch-up day for charges. I was supposed to get out early on Friday so Matty and I could go to PA and pick up little David. The judge had other plans. She said that if he wanted to see his little boy he'd have to come to PA and spend three consecutive nights with him on two separate occasions. Poor Matty called me at work to see if I could get Tuesday off from work because he was going to PA for the weekend. Fortunately my co-workers gave it the ok and I had to quickly go online and hopefully find a hotel room available on this busy Memorial Day weekend.

So now I'm in PA - day #2. We stopped at Matty's mom's house in Saco on the way down and headed to PA around midnight. I slept from 1-4 and Matty drove the whole night through. We got to town around 7am and waited for 8 to come around so we could meet up with David's mother and make the exchange.

After picking lil D up we went to the Cracker Barrel for breakfast. D fell asleep on the way over so we took advantage of the quiet time and caught a little snooze ourselves. I was pretty tired and couldn't even imagine how tired Matty was - at least I was running on a few hours of sleep.

We checked into the hotel and unloaded all of D's stuff - he had lots of toys to keep him busy, which was good. We wanted to be sure he was surrounded by familiar objects so he didn't stress out as easily.

After an hour or so of playing lil D passed out again (must be nice to have it so easy!) so Matty and I got a little more sleep as well. After waking up we went to Chili's for supper and then to Wal Mart to get some teething rings and Anbesol. This poor little guy has some sore gums! We got back to the hotel, gave lil D a bath and tried to get him to go to sleep. After an hour and a half of crying, screaming, and attempts to calm him down with snacks, milk and a pacifier he finally settled down and went to sleep. At this point I was quite frazzled and had to step out and call mom. She offered me some words of wisdom and quickly calmed me down. This is, after all, the first weekend I've ever spent with a baby. I have no experience with kids, have never changed a diaper and never really planned on having any. Now I have an amazing boyfriend with this sweet little boy that he loves more than anything. They are a package deal, and if I want one, I gotta have the other one. It hasn't been easy, but Matty has been very patient with me and I am willing to learn. This will be interesting...

Grease Monkey

It's Monday already? The weekends always seem to go by so fast - probably because I work so much!

Friday night was lots of fun - Matty and I went over to Mel's where Jenn and Ross have been house sitting. We watched the finale of Grey's anatomy (because we weren't awake long enough to watch it Thursday) and then went to Bugaboo Creek for supper. I got 1/2 of a rotisserie chicken and 1/2 rack of ribs, Matty got a filet mignon and a salmon filet - on top of the nachos we had to munch on as we waited for our meal! After we rolled out of there we headed to the Sports Arena and shot some pool. Jenn commented on the chemistry between me and Matty and I was all smiles for the rest of the night :)

Saturday I got up and went to the barn, as usual. Big Buddy was lame so Aunt Weezie threw me on Nick so she could ride Little Bud. Nick was quite a change from what I'm normally used to - he was so frisky and wound up! Aunt Weezie commented that Nick prefers a loose rein, but every time I gave him a little slack, he picked up his speed again! This lil boy sure does need some work - he'll keep me busy this summer!

I ran home in hopes to get a few hours of sleep before my cousin's graduation party. As soon as I got home my neighbor knocked on the door. I answer, all muddy and covered with horse hair as she informs me we have no heat or hot water. Super!!! I crawl into bed anyways and got a little sleep, except for when my mom, my dad, my landlord AND Matty called to interrupt. I slept until about 1:15, packed up some clothes and makeup and headed to mom's for a shower. We all went over to my cousin's college graduation party together, had some food, socialized for a bit and headed out. I did some cleaning at home, then worked 6-10.

Sunday I got up early and headed to mom's for another shower. My landlord informed me that someone should be at my place around 6:00 that night to fix my heat and hot water. How convenient.

After church we went to the Muddy Rudder for lunch - I ate stuffed mushrooms! Then mom and I went to Wal Mart for some groceries. I got home around 4 and cleaned for most of the night. I boiled some water and did the dishes with it because I didn't want to put the dishes off any longer! I also watched a couple episodes of Grey's Anatomy from season 2 - Aunt Weezie lent me season 1 and 2 and I've been watching them bit by bit.

This morning I got up to get ready for work and found there was no hot water. NOT impressed. I got dressed, put a headband on and headed to work. It is now 3:00 and I feel like a big ball of grease! I'm glad I sit out back because I'd be embarrassed to have to check patients in and out. Landlord said I should have hot water by the time I get home - guess all that I needed to push a button by the heather - like I'm supposed to know that! If I still don't have it by the time I get out of here, I'll have to go to mom's because I need to work at the store tonight. Wish me luck!!!

Poor Charlie

I am sad to announce the passing of my fish, Charlie Chaplin. He stopped swimming Sunday night and died late Monday :( I'm super-bummed because he was kind of expensive and was so cute! I'm not sure what went wrong - I had just gotten my water tested the day before and everything was fine! Poor poor Charlie.

Tuesday night I worked late at the office, then got called in to Hannaford. I was in a bad mood to begin with because me and Matty had had a disagreement the day before, and I was less than thrilled to go straight from work to work. They just opened a new shift leader position though and applied for it, so I figured going in and helping out would show that I do care about my co-workers and helping them out.

Last night I worked at the office until 5 then the store 6-10. I didn't have to work until 9 this morning, so it was nice to just lay in bed and relax for a while.
Matty showed up at the office with an iced coffee - he does that when he needs to make a delivery to Silver's, which is just down the street. He's so thoughtful :)

Tonight is the season finale of Grey's Anatomy AND CSI. I haven't watched CSI for the past few weeks because I've become highly addicted to Grey's, but I guess tonight they reveal the 'Miniature Killer' and the last victim is a CSI!!! I'm betting it's Katherine, but we'll see. I hope it's not Nick - he's my favorite one to look at :) Matty's going to bring over some bunny ears (I don't have cable) and we're going to record CSI upstairs in my room as we watch Grey's. Then once Grey's is done, we're going to rewind CSI and watch that! Sounds like a pretty good plan, if you ask me.

Tomorrow night Matty and I are going on a double date with Jenn and Ross - Bugaboo and then shooting some pool. Saturday my cousin is having her graduation party - she graduated from UMO just last weekend. I work 6-10 at the store then will probably just go home and watch a movie.

I'm getting very excited about my trip to Florida and the Caribbean. I had to spend the money I had saved up on my cat, but if I get this promo at the store I'll be making more money and should be able to stash more away. Let's just pray that Madison stays nice and healthy!

Busy Weekend

Saturday was pretty much the pits. Work was fine and everything, but that's all I did. I'm also not happy about my Nike Shox that I paid over $100 for - I bought them in hopes that my feet wouldn't ache by the end of the day. I think my 10 year-old Adidas are more comfortable!

Sunday I got up and went to mom's for breakfast, than church. Aunt Weezie didn't make it in so I offered to usher. I greeted people at the door and handed out bulletins - not a difficult task. When it was about time for the service to start Jean came over and told me which row I'd be doing the offering - (gulp) offering? Church members take turns with the offering, taking the plates up to the front of the church and making sure they get passed to everyone. I had never done the offering before and was afraid of screwing up! Everything went fine though and I was thankful that I dressed nice and was having a good hair day.

The cookout at Grandma and Grandpa's was fun. It's sad to see Grandma's memory deteriorating, but it was nice to do this while she is still "here". We had burgers, hot dogs and chicken and ate in the garage. It was quite breezy which I wasn't thrilled about, but at least the sun was out.

After lunch Brother and I went to Hannaford. He didn't have anything to do and since he can't drive for the next year I figured it would be nice to get him out of the house. We also went to Petco, then picked mom up and went to Wal Mart. After dropping them off I picked up KFC mashed potatoes and a Hannaford roatisserie chicken. Matty and I munched on that as we watched the final Survivor. For those of you who follow the show, I'm sure you hate Dreamz as much as I did after what he pulled. What made him think the jury would give him a million dollars after dissing Yau Man like he did?! I was very pleased that Earl won though - he and Yau were definitely my favorites. I already can't wait until the next one starts!

There's isn't much for exciting stuff going on today. I work 8:30-5 at the office, then 6-10 at the store. Tomorrow I don't work until 9 so sleeping in will be pretty cool. Tonight I'm going to bed as soon as I get home!

Work-aholic

Don't I wish I had co-workers that watched Grey's Anatomy and Survivor. Friday when I got to work all I wanted to talk about was how friggen smart Yau Man is and how I can't believe what a jerk Meredith's father is. And what about George and Izzy - I hope they end up together. It's kind of hard that George is married, but he obviously is pre-occupied with something else. Also, the look that Callie gave Izzy after she gave that whole spiel about taking love for granted was crazy - I could almost see the claws coming out!

Yesterday I worked until 4, got another airbrush tan and picked up some munchies to take to Mel's. Last night I brought Matty over to meet all of my friends - it felt like I was going to a job interview. I'm not sure why I was so nervous because Matty is the most charming man I've ever presented to my friends, but they also know about our extensive past and how much heartache our 5-year ordeal has caused. In the end I got thumbs-up from Mel and Jenn (the ones who's opinions mattered the most) and Jenn even commented that she's never seen me glow the way I have the past few weeks :)

Today I work at the office until about noon and then at Hannaford from 3-10. Somehow between jobs I need to do laundry, vacuum, wrap mom's mother's day present and track down the card that I got her months ago. It is such a cool card and refuse to buy a new one - I don't care if I have to tear my closet apart to find it! I had a hard time deciding what to give her this year - I have like 3 or 4 presents for her. If I see something I know she'll like, I pick it up and stash it away. There are pros and cons to that system - for one, it seems like I never have to do last-minute shopping because I've always got something waiting for her. On the other hand, sometimes I can't keep my little paws off her presents. I got her a really cute Dooney wanna-be purse that ended up in my collection. I bought one in black and one in white. I kept the white one and had every intention to give the other one to her. Well, then Josh died and I needed a little black purse for the funeral. Hmmmm...I could just *borrow* mom's purse this one time, right? Wrong! It's now in my collection and can't imagine not having it whenever I want to use it! Sorry mom - not that she'll ever know it was for her anyways, right?

Aunt Weezie comes home today! Yayyy! I hope she plans on taking me to that horse shop in Florida she blogged about yesterday!!

Pay Day!

I *live* for pay day!

These past two weeks have been a little more difficult than most because of Madison's vet bills - thank God she's all better!

I had to take money out of my Christmas Club to buy groceries the other day - luckily I have the option of tapping into it because I've never spent $500 at Christmas time. Matty has a birthday coming up, but he's been hearing about my money woes since day 1 so I know he won't mind not getting anything expensive. We both are trying to save money - I'd like a new Mazda 3 at some point, and he wants to start building a house on his land in Hampden.

Matty and I have been spending a lot of time together lately and I can't remember the last time I have been this happy. It feels like that part of me that died has come back to life with the sun shining and bright colored flowers in full bloom. Not a day went by that I did not miss him when we were apart. We've surely hit speed bumps along the way, but I think the few years that went by has shown how much we both have changed and matured. I'm even looking forward to meeting his son - hopefully I can set the positive example that his mother has failed to do.

I don't have a whole lot going on this week, so again don't have much to blog about. I see Counselor tonight - I've been promoted to going once every two weeks instead of once a week! Survivor and Grey's is on tonight - I always look forward to Thursdays!

Tomorrow I get the last airbrush tan in my package, then hang out with my friends for the night. My friend Jenn's boyfriend just came home from Iraq on Monday and he will be coming out with us too. Their love story is quite interesting - maybe I'll post it sometime when I have more time to type. I'm looking forward to seeing him though - mostly because he has a wicked cool British accent! Poor Mel is kind of feeling like a spare wheel though since Jenn and I both have paired up with significant others. We're trying really hard not to make her feel left out although her jealousy sometimes can get the best of her. Counselor says you can't keep everybody happy so I try not to stress about it too much. All I know is that we are trying - that just might not be enough for some people.

I work 8:30-12 at the office and 3-10 at the store - there goes my weekend. Aunt Weezie comes home though, so I'm sure she'll have some cool pictures to show me. She hasn't blogged much, so that must mean they've been busy!

For mother's day we're going over to my mom's parents house. Her mother has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's and we want to do something special while she can still understand what is going on. We are doing a buffet-style lunch and Grandma doesn't have to do any work at all! It'll be nice to get the family all together again. It seems that lately Grandma and Grandpa are up in Millinocket as often as possible and even when they're home, Millinocket is all they talk about. I know they'll eventually move up there and that kind of bums me out. They've gotta do what's best for them though, and being with their grandbabies is top priority.

Vertigo

It's been a pretty busy weekend - they always go so fast!

Saturday morning I went riding - the horses sure aren't as frisky as they used to be! I figured Lil Bud would give me a run for my money, but it took a lot of persuading to get him moving!

I got another coat of my airbrush tan done after that - it's looking better every time! I love all the comments that I get from people. When they say "wow, you must've just gone on a trip or go tanning," I say "nope - neither!" The puzzled look I get is fun :)

From 2-9 I worked at the store, then I went home and took it easy.

This morning I got up a little early, cooked a nice breakfast and went to church. I was please to see my mom's parents there. They have been going up to Millinocket for church, but had decided to change the scenery today. I went to their house for lunch and had a cheeseburger!

After lunch mom and I went to get some groceries, like we always do. At this point I was starting to feel the effects of my seasonal allergies. Just like clockworks, every spring my allergies kick in and kick my butt! I can deal with the stuffy nose and the itchy eyes, but the dizziness is what gets me. My doctor says fluid builds up in my ears, which causes the vertigo. If I turn my head real fast, I almost fall over.

I've actually been feeling dizzy for about 2 weeks, but hadn't really figured out what it was caused by. At first I thought it was because of the bonk on the head I received at the store the other night, then I blamed it on the new snazzy glasses I got (changing prescriptions always messes with my head a little bit), but now that I've gotten used to those the only thing it can be is allergies. When I got home I took an Allergra, snorted some Rhinocourt and took a nap. I was even dizzy in my dreams!!!

TGIF!!!

Ahhh, the beauty of Fridays - full of hope and anticipation. Well, that is except for mine because I usually work and have busy weekends. Tonight I don't have to work at the store so I'm going over to Mel's house for a girly get-together. We were going to play in here mom's hot tub tonight, but for some reason it didn't work out. I even rescheduled my airbrush tan appointment so I could actually get in the water! Instead, we'll watch The Breakfast Club, eat pizza and sip wine.

Yesterday Mel and I met up with a travel agent and made arrangements for our cruise. We're going to the Western Caribbean and are visiting 4 different ports.
Mel just got back from a cruise last month and is very gung-ho to go on another one. Since I'm so good at stashing my money I decided to give in and committed to going. Right now it's just the two of us - they are expensive, so I don't blame others for not being able to do it. If I wasn't so good at saving, I wouldn't be able to do it either!

Does anybody out there watch Grey's Anatomy? I am the only person in the office that watches Survivor and Grey's, so when something crazy happens I have nobody to talk about it with! I was so sad when Susan died last night - she was so nice! It also broke my heart to see Meredith's father take his anger and sadness out on her... they were just starting to bond! With Susan gone, I doubt they'll even speak now. I can't wait for Aunt Weezie to buy the next season when it comes out. Right now I've seen season 1 and 2 because she lent them to me. I still have some catching up to do and can't wait!

Wednesday

I don't really have much going on for exciting stuff, so really there isn't a lot for me to blog about.

Madison ended up not needing an enema the other day - the x ray showed she was no longer constipated. My next questions was "then where is she pooping?" Her litter box has been completely empty, so either she snuck out sometime when I didn't realize it, or she's found a new spot somewhere in my apartment. So anyways, the irritation is most likely caused by the two hairballs sitting in her stomach (according to the x-ray) and I need to give her 3" of a hairball remover every day in hopes that she'll puke that up on my rug somewhere. I went to Petco and got a pet stain/odor remover because my poor rug sure has taken a beating from all of this. I also got a new fish, and I hopefully will be able to post a picture of her sometime this week.

Yesterday I went to the eye doctors for my yearly checkup. Normally patients get a screening exam every two years but where I have ocular hypertension and a family history of macular degeneration, I need to be screened for glaucoma. Everything came out fine and I got myself a snazzy new pair of glasses. The glasses that are in style right now are pretty funky looking, so I was looking forward to joining the trend.

Tonight I have to work at the store - I was thrilled when I got my schedule because it's the only night during the week I have to be there! Tomorrow I see my doctor to follow-up on my period of depression which has drastically improved. For those of you who have ever considered going to counseling, I strongly recommend it!

Well I guess I should go empty the fax machine or something. It's kind of nice to have a desk out back away from everything because I can get away with blogging when I have some spare time!

Praying for Poop

My poor cat. It seems like she hasn't eaten for days. She'll beg and cry for food, but even the smallest morsels stay in her for just a few minutes. My living room rug sure has taken a beating this past week, so if anybody has suggestions on how to remove pet stains/odors I would greatly appreciate it! Tonight she goes in for her enema - even after giving her a stool softener three times a day, nothing has come out. I feel so bad for her - I had my fingers crossed all weekend to find poop in her litter box, but it's just as clean as it was on Friday :(

Saturday I went to the barn, like I always do. The horses feet are really tender right now because they don't have shoes on yet. Big Buddy was definitely the worst, even though Little Bud did get ouchie towards the end of our ride. I think Aunt Weezie was going to call the farrier this week and try to get him to the barn sooner - we can't be laming up our horses before summer starts!

Saturday afternoon I got another airbrush tan, then worked at the grocery store. One shift leader commented that I looked like I just got back from Tahiti! I took that as a compliment :)

After work I did some laundry, cleaned my room and went to bed early. Sunday I went to mom's for breakfast, church and lunch with Aunt Weezie then grocery shopping with mom. I rented the movie Happy Feet, but was less than impressed with it. I also met my noisy neighbors last night, and much to my surprise I went to school with one of them. It actually kind of made me feel better - maybe now that we know each other they'll be a little more quiet when they see that I'm home!!!

Brother got out of jail Saturday at some point and went out to lunch with Pastor D. I guess he also went to the jail to see Brother, too. I made a point to thank thank him at church on Sunday and asked that he continue to pray for him.

Hopefully this week will be better than last week. Tonight I'm going to get me a new fish since I don't have to work at the store tonight. I only work Wednesday and Saturday over there this week - fine with me!

Madison's Mommy

If I was still in college last night would've been called a 'pukin rally'. It was an event named by the Kappa brothers, referring to when somebody ends up puking their guts out (usually because they had too much to drink). Nobody in my household had anything to drink last night, but Madison sure did find a way to let me know she wasn't feeling well. When she started vomiting up bile, I called the ER Vet clinic and they suggested I set up an appointment for this morning. Considering I was just there yesterday (and waited over an hour to be seen) I was less than thrilled with this bit of information.

I went to work early to make up some hours, and took kitty in for a 10:30 appointment. At this point she couldn't even keep water down and I'm a basket case wondering if I have fed my princess some tainted wet food.

When it was our turn to go in the vet tech said they had to take her out back and return momentarily. Almost immediately I heard my baby howling and meowing as loud as she could - they were drawing blood. My nose started to burn and I fought back tears. After taking an x-ray they brought her back in and she curled up in the back of the kennel. Everything came out fine except for the fact that she was constipated and a little dehydrated. They decided to give her a quick IV and asked me to hold her. As they stuck the needle in I started to feel a little warm. By the end of the procedure I had broken out in a cold sweat and had to sit down with my eyes closed - I nearly passed out! I may not have any children, but that cat is as close to my child as any animal could possibly be.

So here I sit at the office, making up more hours. Between the dentist and vet appointments I've missed about 6 hours of work this week. With two fun trips coming up I really need to bank my vacation time!

I also would like to throw in a prayer request. My little brother is in jail right now, paying the consequences for his OUI last month. He really is a good kid, just a little lost right now. I can't imagine what he's going through right now. He's the only member of my family that has been to jail - can you imagine being the person that starts such a trend? Not I! Anyways, please keep him in your thoughts -I know he screwed up and probably deserves to be where he is, but he's still my brother and I still love him ~

Had a Bad Day

I normally am thankful for every day that I have on this planet, but every once in a while an occasion or two comes along when going to bed and making it all go away is my top priority.

Yesterday was one of those days.

I started off with a boring meeting at the hospital. I'm sure this guy had some very useful information to offer, but after an hour of dry rambling, one can only take in so much. I was putting so much effort into staying conscious that I missed the last hour of his presentation - who needs to know about Medicare anyways, right?

Back at the office I discover we are short-handed, which means I didn't have a lot of time to get the stuff that I need to work on done. My co-workers sometimes done understand how time-sensitive my work is, and I'm the one that's in the spotlight when it doesn't get done. I could feel the frustrations start to rise.

To add insult to injury I am suffering from PMS this week AND I was wearing sandals that were anything but comfortable. My co-workers snickered as I hobbled around the office and I just grumbled under my breath.

Around 2:00 one of the nurses offered to let me wear her Nurse Mates, which are white clog-type shoes. I was happy and relieved to take off those cute but dreadful sandals as I slid on these clogs that were about 1/2 size too small. As I was walking out front one of the secretaries laughed and said "man, those look STUpid!" I shot her a warning glance as another secretary said "wow, you just flipped out without saying a word!" At this point I said I needed to be left alone or else mean things will start to come out of my mouth.

The work day finally ended and I sped out of the parking lot. I had to pee, my feet hurt and I was hungry. As I got off at my exit I sighed as traffic sped up and down Hammond St. It's always so hard to get out of that intersection - it seriously needs a light there. Boiling with aggrivation I sped out in front of a car and nearly ran over a man on a motorcycle. I was so close to him he tried to kick my car! I was absolutely mortified at this point. As a fellow biker I feel extra responsible to be courteous to people on motorcycles, and now I've almost killed one. I start crying and was hysterical by the time I got to my house.

After coming very close to calling in, I put on my apron and head to Hannaford - that work environment usually cheers me up, so I figured I'd choose my attitude and put a smile on my face. Of course, everyone was asking what was wrong with me because my face was red and my eyes were red and watery - it was hard to keep my horrible day off my mind while people kept asking what was up.

Finally I broke down and went into the shift leader office. I needed to blow my nose, and there's a mirror on the back of the door so I could check for "hangers" (I'd be so embarrassed to have a booger hanging out of my nose for the rest of the night!). As I leaned into the mirror I heard one of the shift leaders burst in and the door slammed directly into my head. Down I went. Discombobulated and confused, the shift leader apologizes and helped me up. The water works came again and I excused myself to the bathroom. At this point I have hit an ultimate low and just wanted to go home.

I came back to my senses and headed back out front. One of the other shift leaders said if I started to experience any symptoms to let her know, and she'd send me home. At that point I was fine, but as the evening progressed I because increasingly dizzy and nauseated - along with a pounding headache. By 8:30 I was so dizzy I could hardly function and I called Matty to see if he'd come pick me up. He made arrangements, picked me up and had somebody else drive his van back to my house. He helped me upstairs, got my pjs out, then went back downstairs until I changed. As he stumbled back upstairs (I wouldn't let him turn any lights on) he rubbed my belly until I drifted off to sleep. He crashed on the couch that night and checked on me periodically to make sure I wasn't showing any signs of a concussion. I woke up this morning with a headache, but was able to drive myself to work.

The day is going well so far, besides the headache of course. I'd rather have head pain than more of that dizziness though - I was miserable last night.

Tonight Matty is treating to chinese food - maybe I should have him pick up a helmet to protect me from myself!

Movie Monday

Work went by really fast yesterday - we have a secretary that has been helping over at the Brewer office because they're short, which leaves her work load for the rest of us to take care of. I prefer busy days as it definitely makes the hours pass much quicker.

After work Step-dad changed my snow tires over, so my car feels 100lbs lighter now. It's kind of nice having a connection in the auto department - he does all of the work my car needs, and gives me a nice family discount :)

Once my car was all set I ran to Hannaford and rented Night at the Museum, and picked up an actual loofah. I talked to the Moon Tans lady who informed me that I had been using a "nylon ball" as opposed to her recommended loofah. Honestly, I didn't even know there was a difference! When I got up to the register I confirmed with the cashier that I was indeed buying the correct item this time. I was reassurred when she pointed to the word 'loofah' on the package. We'll see how my tan comes out this Saturday.

Matty came by for supper and I made chicken cordon bleu (not the frozen stuff either!), green beans and biscuits. For dessert I had made a really nice fruit salad with cantaloupe, honeydew, strawberries, watermelon, pineapple and red grapes. When it came time for dessert though, my sweet tooth kicked in and I offered Caramel Caribou ice cream instead. I had some fruit salad for breakfast this morning instead!

Night at the Museum was a very fun movie, and I highly recommend it for anybody that is interested in watching it! There was a great cast including Owen Wilson, Ben Stiller, Robin Williams, Dick Van Dyke and Mickey Rooney, and it's fun for all ages! Geez, I sound like a commercial! lol

Bad Bad Blogger

So it's been well over a week since my last post...sorry. I'll spare you from the excuses - not that I really have any. I'll give you a quick update though.

My week of fun was pretty exciting - I can see why the doctor ordered it! Between visiting family, treating myself to expensive cereal and tasty leftovers I truely enjoyed myself. I also experienced my first Moon Tan last week! I used to be a chronic tanner until last summer when I had a cancer scare. Luckily it ended up being nothing, but I vowed to protect my skin from then on.

Moon Tans is the only organic tan available in the area. It's made of Aloe, moisturizer and DHT - it won't turn you orange because it's not full of chemicals like your typical spray tan. This is actually an airbrush tan - it gets sprayed on you from head to toe by the owner, Kim. When I got to work the next day everybody was asking if I had gone on a trip somewhere because I was so tan - my face looks so good!

Thursday I had to take Madison to the vet. $116 later she was diagnosed with a UTI and was on an antibiotic AND pain meds. It's been quite a battle getting those meds into her - my floor is covered with medicine and my hands are all scratched up. I've been a little paranoid with this whole tained pet food epidemic as well. I feed her Friskies which has not been on the list of recalled foods, but I still watch to make sure she isn't having any symptoms. She didn't finish her supper last night, barely touched breakfast this morning, then vomited before I went to work. If she hasn't eaten by the time I get home today I'll have to call again. I'd be devastated if anything ever happened to my precious kitty :(

This weekend I got my hair colored, worked a little at Hannaford, then went to a surprise baby shower on Sunday. Two of my sorority sisters are pregnant, one just had a baby, and one is trying to have a baby. My friend Garret just found out his girlfriend is having a baby, and my friend Clayton just found out HIS girlfriend is having a baby. Doesn't anybody get married before having kids any more?? I kind of feel bad for Jaime, my sister that we had the party for - her boyfriend dumped her after she told him she wouldn't be having an abortion. Some guy, huh?

Tonight I am having my ex-boyfriend Matty over for dinner. Very recently we have begun talking again and we both are having a hard time ignoring the sparks that are still there. We both have been through a lot, and he certainly has put me through a lot emotionally. I can't help but notice how much he's grown up though - having a kid must do that to a person. A lot of my friends and co-workers can't believe I'm even talking to him right now. I ponder that sometimes myself, but then I referred to the Bible. Col. 3:13 says "Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any, forgive as the Lord forgave you." Also, Rom. 12:2 says "and be not conformed to this world, but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God."

To err is human and to forgive is divine ~

I Need To Lighten Up!

The day went by pretty fast yesterday at the office. We're down two doctors this week so I've had to find other things to do. It's nice to get away from my desk and change the scenery once in a while.

After work I went to see Counselor again. I asked her about co-dependency, because my doctor had told me I need to work on that. It's hard to explain, so I Googled the definition:
"As adults, codependent people have a greater tendency to get involved in relationships with people who are perhaps unreliable, emotionally unavailable, or needy. And the codependent person tries to provide and control everything within the relationship without addressing their own needs or desires; setting themselves up for continued unfulfillment. It also is a psychological state where a person acts against their own will or conscious desires in which to behave." Symptoms of co-dependency include controlling behavior, distrust, perfectionism, avoidance of feelings, intimacy problems, caretaking behavior, hypervigilance (a heightened awareness for potential threat/danger) and physical illness related to stress.

That is me in a way, but kind of not. I know when Brother was having his drug/alcohol problem I tried to do everything in my power to stop it, and to make him realize that the girl in his life was a negative influence and was no good for him. My mom kept telling me he'd have to learn this on his own, and I couldn't understand why she wasn't doing anything about it.

The other situation that defines me is where 'a person acts against their own will or conscious desires in which to behave'. I am a person that aims to please, and wants everyone to think highly of me. My family is my first priority - I want them to see that I am a good girl, not a bad girl. This has affected my love life in a way, because when I meet someone the first thing I think of is "what would my relatives think" and usually look the other way. There is one person that I fell deeply in love with several years ago and we have been talking again recently. I have been tempted to spend time with him to see if he has grown up at all, but I am afraid of what my family will think. Counselor says I should do what makes me happy and that my family will accept me no matter what, but I can't help but wonder what will be said about the situation when I'm not around.

So my assignment this week is to do something fun every day until I see her again next Thursday. It seems I can't get out of 'work mode' and am not having enough fun. When I do have fun, I feel like I should be doing something productive such as cleaning my room, dusting, etc. Last night I went to Target with Joy and got a new bathing suit (which I guess isn't always that fun) and tonight I have a date. I'm open to suggestions for the rest of the week!

The Snowbirds Have Landed...

...and I bet they're ready to get back on that plane and head to Florida! I visited with them for a bit last night and they sure were exhausted - and without luggage!

I worked until 4 last night, went home to feed Madison, then went to Aunt Weezie's for some visiting and chop suey! We prepared a plate for Grammy and Grampy and delivered them next door - it was yummy! Grammy even noticed that I had lost weight! That's pretty impressive considering she's legally blind.

After supper I visited with the grandparents for a bit, then went back over to Aunt Weezie's. We helped set my other grandmother up with her blog, then watched American Idol. I haven't seen any of it yet, so I was anxious to hear this Sanjayah character, who I've heard so much about. He actually did a pretty good job last night, so I guess I picked a bad night to tune in. Aunt Weezie will have to let me know who ends up going home tonight.

I got home around 9:15ish, played around with My Space for a bit, and was in bed by 10. Around 10:15 I got a text message saying 'goodnight my beautiful brown-eyed girl'. It was from my ex-boyfriend, Matt. We had just talked on the phone Sunday night, but really haven't talked much since he moved home from Pennsylvania. I'm glad we're on good terms and stuff, but I'm really hoping he's not shooting for a reconciliation. Sunday I made it clear that would not happen - he's done enough damage to me. He said he understood and accepted that, but after getting that text I'm not so sure. At least if I'm ever tempted to take him back all I'd have to do is talk to my family or friends - they'll slap some sense into me real fast! I know there's someone out there for me, I just kinda wish he'd come around because it would be really nice to have someone look forward to seeing me every day after work besides my cat.

More on the Weekend

Sunday I was beat - I napped for 3 hours, then stayed in bed the rest of the evening. Thankfully I have a laptop so I was able to get my internet fix for the day as well.

One of the contributing factors to my fatigue was my late evening Saturday. My friend Dizzy D informed me that he would be in town and wanted to hang out. We were good friends in high school and he moved down to Portland several years ago. He always calls me when he comes to town, which is usually just around the holidays. I was planning on going to bed early Saturday night, but I couldn't pass up a chance to see him! I picked him up at the Sea Dog and we went to the Sports Arena and did some bowling. We ran into a lot of people we went to high school with, and everyone kept asking if we were a couple. D and I have never crossed the friends barrier - I have a tendency of developing a crush on him when he has a girlfriend, but I would hate to ruin the friendship we have by adding in all that romantic crap. He makes me laugh more than anybody else I know!

Sunday morning I was up at 4:30 to be at Aunt Weezie's by 5:30. She stayed in bed, so me and the Uncle went to the sunrise service and had some breakfast. That lasted about an hour, then we went back to their house to wait for church again at 10. I was starting to feel a little sleepy during the service and at one point my cousin, J, poked me with a pen to keep me conscious!

After church I went to mom's for lunch - lasagna! It was just me, her, step-dad and Brother. By then I was getting pretty sleepy and headed home to get some sleep!

Blogging in Bed

What a busy weekend!

Friday night my date finally showed up - about 10:45PM. At least he had a pizza loaded with cheese with him! We watched the movie Fly Boys, which was actually pretty good, besides the fact that it was 2 hours long. I had a hard time keeping Mr. Date focused though - he had other things on his mind and unfortunately for him I didn't allow it. That'll most likely be our only date - I prefer a gentleman that at least pretends he's not a typical guy.

Saturday I got up and went to the barn with Aunt Weezie. I hopped on Lil Bud bareback and played around inside for a bit. Then we went outside and took some pictures while it was snowing. My horse is such a stud muffin.

Well it's time for me to go to bed, even though I'm already IN bed! I'll update more on the weekend tomorrow.

(IM)Patiently Waiting

I hate waiting. I get my patience from my father, so for those of you that know him, know exactly what I'm talking about.

I'm supposed to have a date tonight. Well, I think it's a date. I haven't been on one since November, so I've kinda forgotten what a date entails. Now that I think about it, I don't even know many details about this date. We have established that we will be watching a movie and there was a mention of pizza (which I was ready to eat 3 hours ago). I don't know where we will be watching this movie or obviously what time we were going to meet up. I'm starting to realize that not everybody has their pj's on by 8:30 and in bed by 10:30 on a Friday night!

Charlie is still doing ok - he hasn't been moving much, but at least he's not dead.

Tomorrow Aunt Weezie and I are headed to the barn - our Saturday tradition (and the reason I don't stay up late Friday nights). I'm kind of bummed we have so much snow - the outdoor arena was nice and dry last weekend...now we can't even see the ground again. Oh well...that's Maine!

Sunday I have to be up before the sun rises - I'm going to the Sunrise Service followed by a church breakfast. Aunt Weezie doesn't usually go to that so it's just me and the Uncle. After church I head over to mumsie's for lasagna. My uncle and his gf are coming up from Portland, so it'll be nice to see them. Brother and step-brother will be there as well. After lunch, I'm taking a nap!

Dumped!

This morning I woke up and was ready early - I figured I'd have to scrape off my car and drive slowly to work. I had no idea that snow was almost up to my knees when I opened the door to leave my house - I was less than impressed. I got stuck halfway down my driveway and had to shovel my way out. When I got to work I was soaked from head to toe.
The day was pretty unproductive - we lost power around 10am and couldn't do much of anything. By 12:30 I had decided it was time for me to call it a day and headed out. I had plenty of work to do, but I was dying for a nap - seems like forever since I've had time to do that!
Once I got home I checked my MySpace really quick and put my PJs on. 10 minutes later I was reminded why I don't like it here any more. My neighbors make so much noise - between the laughing, running up and down the stairs and hootin and hollering, I didn't sleep a wink. Instead, I just rested my eyes for about 2 hours. How can people be do darn noisy?? What happens if I stay home because I'm sick? Will I not be able to get any rest because these people can't shut up for a single day?!
Anywho, I got up and cleaned my apartment for a bit until it was time to see Heather - my counselor. I meet with her once a week for an hour - she's great. I saw her a couple years ago when me and Matty were having problems and I wish I had never stopped. I always feel so much better after talking to her - thank God for insurance!
Charlie Chaplin seems to be doing better every day - I came home from work and he was actually swimming around! I really hope he pulls through this...listen to me, all concerned about a little fish!

Hump Day

Another day of nothing but work. People think I'm crazy, but I still love it. There were a couple things that made me smile though:

Today at work we were talking about death, and how my co-workers couldn't understand why I'm not scared of it. "Because she has faith" says Tera. It made me feel all warm and fuzzy. Yes, I do have faith - I know that when it's my time to go there is something so much better than the awesome life I already have. I also believe that everything happens for a reason - death is something I certainly can't avoid, so why try to hide from it?

Charlie Chaplin also seems to be doing better today. Yesterday he had these white spots on his head and he wasn't doing anything. Between jobs I did a partial water change and that seemed to have perked him up a bit. Good thing - he was expensive!

Tonight at the store I saw my friend Tony who I haven't spoken to in at least a year. He brought in his 9 week-old Border Collie pup and he was so cute! The puppy was cute to...hehe.

Tomorrow is Maine Black Bears Day at the office and I don't have anything to wear. One of my co-workers happens to be a hockey freak though, and said she has enough tee shirts to go around. We'll see if there's one that isn't so long it looks like a dress on me!

Well Madison says it's time for bed, so I guess that's it. Tomorrow I have an appointment with my counselor to discuss my "co-dependency" issues that my doctor says I have. I guess the first thing we'll have to do is clarify what co-dependency actually is ~

Takeout Tuesday

Tuesdays is one of my favorite days of the week. It's really quiet at the office and we always order takeout - usually whatever Stacey decides she wants. Today we ordered from Chili's and I got a kids meal - ribs, cinnamon apples and a soda for just $5.99. It was the perfect size and the apples were to die for!

After work Joy and I went for a walk - it was cold. We didn't take our usual route because our toes were going numb. After getting back to the house, she had to use my computer for a school project and I made chicken stir fry for supper.

The highlight of my day was about an hour ago - my brother sent me a text message that said 'I just wanted to see how you are doin and to say hey'. If my apartment was a little bigger I probably would've done back flips right there in my bedroom. Our relationship has suffered since he got in with his "crowd" of friends. We used to be best friends - we even had an apartment together. I sure have missed him. I'm glad he's finally coming around, and I'm thankful he has survived the dangerous lifestyle that he was enduring. I'll take this text message as a sign that he is ready to be friends again. Hopefully he is starting to realize that family is so much more than people you borrow money from.

Please pray for my little bro - I'd love to see him on the right track. That, and I'd love to have my best friend back.

Productive Weekend

This weekend was a very productive one – it was nice! Friday night I worked both jobs, then went home and went to bed. Saturday morning I got up and met Aunt Weezie at the barn. We didn’t get to ride because we were too busy grooming! The horses have begun to shed like crazy – we groomed for an hour and still didn’t get all of the hair out! Big Buddy was definitely shedding the most – is seems he sheds enough for 3 horses.

After running home and taking a quick shower I went to a Mary Kay party at mom’s house with Judy, Lisa, Grandma and mom’s co-worker Charlene. I ended up buying some foundation, which is something I’ve never worn before. I’ve always seen makeup as more of a nuisance than a help. The girls said it looked nice though, and it evened out my skin tone so I went for it.

I stayed at mom’s until it was time to work at Hannaford. I had a 5-hour shift, so it was over in no time. After work I was going to watch Lake House and go to bed early. About 15 minutes after I got home Joy showed up with a bagful of Juicy Pear Jelly Belly jelly beans…those are my favorite! We decided to have a drink at the Sea Dog, then she dropped me off back home again so I could go to bed.

Sunday morning I got up, had breakfast at mom’s and was picked up by Aunt Weezie and the Uncle to head to church. Afterwards we went to the Muddy Rudder – we had baked brie for an appetizer, which was absolutely amazing! I had a lobster roll too, which was just loaded with meat. Before dropping me off we ran to Aubuchon and picked up some new shedding blades and wormers – Little Bud has been rubbing his tail and I am NOT happy about that! Then I went to get mom and we picked up some groceries. After I dropped her off I met up with Joy and Charmy and did some shopping. I picked up a new pair of Nike Shocks, 2 Yankee Candles – Stargazer Lilly (my favorite flower!) and Lilac (for mom) – some Easter candy for Mom & Stepdad then to Petco for a new fish. He’s a big golden fatty with black fins and a black moustache! I named him Charlie Chaplin.

After getting Charlie settled in Joy and I went for a walk, I watched AFV and then The Lakehouse, which was pretty lame. I hope they don't end up pairing Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock up for any more films.

Thankful for Thursdays

I am typing during Survivor commercial breaks - lets see how much I actually accomplish! I'm actually kind of excited because Ravu just won their first challenge. I always seem to vote for the underdog - it's nice to see when they come out of their rut - they appreciate the rewards that much more.
This morning I had a training at the Ciancette Building and had to use our new skills this afternoon in the office. We had pizza and ice cream sundaes for Doctors Day, which is actually tomorrow.
I got my first HPV vaccine today - my arm is wicked sore! I actually had to lay down because I felt queazy right after the injection...I'm so wimpy!
After my doctor appointment I swung into mom's and dropped off some salmon that my co-worker had brought in, in exchange for some left over stir fry (tomorrow's lunch! yes!). Then I ran over to Aunt Weezie's to "use the treadmill". Really, I think I was just looking for some moral support. I haven't been feeling like myself lately, and Josh's suicide has been bothering me more than I thought it would. Anywho, I was pleased to be informed that JonJon and company was delivering pizza and would be by shortly. I chatted and hung out until about 7:30ish then headed home. Now here I sit, in front of my computer, jacket still on, kitty on my lap, and my Thursday night TV shows on.
I love Thursdays ~

Windy Wednesday!

Listen to thaot wind howl! Too bad we couldn't sue the weather guy every time he was wrong - nobody would have to work! I guess I should be glad it's not snowing.
Today wasn't overly exciting - I worked all day. I am getting ready to head to job #2 for the last four hours of the day. I'm kind of regretting the fact that I offered to push carts tonight - it's going to destroy my hair! At least I'll be getting exercise though.
I've been seriously considering job #3 - cleaning Aunt Weezie's barn this summer. It's about 45 minutes, first thing in the morning, 5 days a week. Aunt Weezie said she wouldn't be offended if I felt it wasn't worth my time - I think it's awesome! Getting paid to hang out in the barn, build muscle shoveling manure and spending more time with her? I'd be tempted to do it for free (if only I didn't have to pay rent...)!
I haven't given her an answer yet, but I've been thinking and praying about it and really think it'll be an awesome job. Besides, it's only in the summer, so it's not like I have to worry about freezing my butt off and breaking through the iced-over water buckets!
Well I just heard my trash can skid across the driveway, so I suppose I should chase after that and get going.
The weather in this state can be crazy sometimes...but I love it!

A Good Weekend

So it was an interesting weekend, to say the least. Friday was my friend’s funeral which was not fun at all – they never are though. Friday night I went to a comedy show with my friend Willis. It was good to laugh – and we were with a good group of people, which always helps.

My brother also got an OUI Friday night, on top of finding out he was being evicted from his apartment. I’m hoping this is the last bad decision he makes for a long time. He is past due on a lifestyle change, and I worry about him daily.

Saturday I worked both jobs, then watched a handful of Grey’s Anatomy. Aunt Weezie lent me season one and two because I had never seen it before – now I’m hooked!

Sunday I had breakfast at my mom’s, then went to church with Aunt Weezie and the Uncle . I was very glad I went as the topic was anxiety – something that has been an issue with me lately. I listened carefully and took down notes – I really think going to church will help me find my way. I have been searching for guidance and am glad to finally have it. I think it’ll bring me closer to my family too, which is always a plus. After church mom and I went to Reny's and did some shopping. I've been feeling kind of lonely lately and I think mom sensed that, so she suggested that little day trip. On the way back we got a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup sundae at Baskin Robbins - it was amazing! I sent her flowers on Monday with a card that said "Thank you for everything you do, I'd be lost without you." I would definitely be lost without my mom.

I'm looking forward to church next week - I already feel an improvement and am relieved to see there's an end (of feeling lost) in sight.

The Gift of Life

Life is hard. There are days that you just want to give up and take the easy way out. I've thought about it, and it's pretty normal for anybody to think about it. To actually do it though, is a totally different story and is something that nobody should have to endure.

Monday I was told that my friend Josh had taken his own life in his ex-girlfriend's house. Dumbfounded, I just sat at my desk and cried. How can anything be so bad that you have to commit such a horrible, selfish act?

When a person kills themself, they are playing God in their own life. They are taking the decision away from God. Now I ask you - isn't that a sin? Although sins are forgivable, how can you justify something like that?

· It violates the Ten Commandments.
· Nowhere does the Bible condone a person ending life to escape circumstances.
· Life is a gift from God.
· Suicide is an expression of self-hatred, and the Bible says we are to "love our neighbors as ourselves."
· Suicide usurps the power that belongs only to God.
· A person who commits suicide short-circuits God's will for his or her life.
· It is an expression of lack of faith. Philippians 4:19 states, "My God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus."

Is Josh in Heaven right now? I don't know. I don't believe he ever invited God into his life, and that scares me. Although I feel nobody deserves eternity in hell, why should non-christians be as privileged as those who have accepted God into their lives? Now I'll admit I haven't been the best follower in the past, but I have very recently started to include God in my life again and already feel more complete. I don't feel as depressed and hopeless, which is something I have lived with for many many years.

So please, add Josh's family to your thoughts and prayers. He had two very young children and a family that loved him very much.

http://www.bangornews.com/a/class/obituaries/obituary.cfm?id=63390

Rest in peace, Josh. Hopefully I'll see you again someday.

Times Are Changing

I’ve gotten a lot of mixed reactions about the recent time-change. I for one, am all about it! I’ve noticed that most of the people who don’t like it are the early risers that are up and ready to go before my alarm even goes off. It is still dark when I get up at 6:30am but my window is so small in my room, it’s usually dark no matter what time of day it is.

I find myself being active longer during the day – when it gets dark at 4 I just want to go home and put my pjs on. Now I’m more motivated and don’t want to stay in while it’s nice out. I also am getting horse fever again. During the winter it’s kind of the pits because we can’t ride outside and it gets so cold! During the warmer seasons I go to the barn much more and am looking forward to this. Aunt Louise got a new pony last year that does jumping and I kind of want to get into that. I used to jump on Big Buddy, but he would get so excited and wound up it almost scared me – even as a full-grown adult I still am just a peanut on him! He’s a gentle giant though…a little clumsy at times, but hey, nobody’s perfect right?

The Beginning

Ahh, my first blog. I was introduced to this site by Midlife Mom, who is my very special Aunt. I do a little blogging on my MySpace page, but I usually only write something when I feel like making a statement.
I wasn't even sure if I had anything to write about tonight, but as I sat here watching one of my favorite shows, I figured I'd make a tribute to it.
I'm sure you all have heard of America's Funniest Home Videos. I remember even when I was back in middle school laughing more than anybody else in the room at those crazy home movies. Dad used to order Gambino's pizza after church and we'd all sit down as a family and watch it - one of my favorite memories.
To this day I rarely miss an episode. My favorite, of course, are the animal films. I have a very soft spot for animals - especially cats. I think that runs in the family. So I thought it only appropriate that I add some silly kitty clips - I hope you enjoy!
